<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the heat accumulation of a heat generator and to obtain good printing quality while obtaining a long life head, by applying energy corresponding to almost 1/N of printing energy required in printing one line of heads to an N-lines of heat generating element groups and performing overlapped printing to finish one character. CONSTITUTION:A head, wherein N-lines of heat generating element groups each arranged in a linear state are mutually arranged in parallel at dot pitches of characters to be printed, is mounted and printing energy corresponding to almost 1/N of that required in printing one line of the heat generating element group is imparted. In this case, overlapped printing is successively performed by N-lines of the heat generating element group to perform printing corresponding to one character. For example, because one character is finished by performing the printing of one character by overlapped printing due to two front and rear lines of heat generating element groups 21, 22, the printing energy to each heat generator can be brought to almost 1/2 of printing energy E of one line and, because the temp. of each heat generator is suppressed to a fairly low degree and cooled sufficiently, good printing quality is obtained and the life of the head can be also prolonged.</p> |
