PURPOSE:To prevent closing of a nozzle for casting by adding powder consisting of a specific compsn. of a ternary Al2O3-MgO-CaO system into a molten steel and floating and removing the Al2O3 in the molten steel contacting with the powder in the form of molten slag. CONSTITUTION:The powder consisting of the compsn. within the range enclosed of M, F, G, P4, H, X2, I, C and M in the ternary phase diagram of Al2O3-MgO- CaO is preliminarily added as an accelerator for forming slag into a molten steel in the stage of casting the molten steel which is an Al killed steel. The powder is brought into contact with Al2O3 in the molten steel to form Al2O3 into the molten slag. The molten slag is floated on the surface of the molten steel and is removed and thereafter the molten steel is cast through a casting nozzle into a desired casting mold. The clogging of the nozzle for casting by Al2O3 in the killed Al steel is thus prevented. |
