摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a light-transmitting recording material for ink jet recording which is free of curling problem, by incorporating specified colloidal silica into an ink-receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:Colloidal silica obtained by dispersing ultrafine particles of silicic anydride with a particle diameter of 1-80mmu in water is used. Since the refractive index for visible rays of the colloidal silica is approximate to that of a resin constituting the ink-receiving layer and the particle diameter of the colloidal silica is by far smaller than the wavelength of visible rays and by other reasons, a relatively large amount of the colloidal silica can be used as a filler in the ink-receiving layer of the light-transmitting recording material, without causing a considerable lowering in the light-transmitting property. The colloidal silica has an excellent filling effect which ensures that the ink-receiving layer as a whole is little shrinked or expanded even when the hydrophilic resin itself is shrinked or expanded due to variations in humidity. The colloidal silica is used in an amount of 5-50wt%, whereby an excellent curl-preventing effect can be obtained while maintaining the light-transmitting property.
