PURPOSE:To improve lubricity and moisture resistance by coating a soln. consisting essentially of PE having COOH group at one end and (meth)acrylate group at the other end on the surface of a magnetic layer consisting of a thin ferromagnetic metallic film and irradiating UV rays thereto. CONSTITUTION:A soln. consisting essentially of the UV polymerisable monomer expressed by the formula (R is a satd. hydrocarbon group, n is approximately 5-40) and contg. a crosslinking agent having UV polymerizable double bonds in both terminal groups such as ethylene glycol dimethacrylate is coated on a thin ferromagnetic film provided on a base and is polymerized by irradiation of UV rays thereto. A secure protective film is thus formed. The deterioration of the magnetic layer is thus prevented even in a high-temp. and high-humidity environment and the wear resistance is improved. The excellent magnetic recording medium of which the lubricity lasts long as the protective film has long satd. hydrocarbon skeleton is obtd. |
