The rail vehicle bogie comprises two lengthwise girders which are spaced apart with two axles mounted between them a ttheir opposite ends to turn on horizontal axes. - It incorporates a set of struts between the lengthwise girders to oppose their movement in the lengthwise direction in relation to each other, and comprising one or more tie rods inclined to the lengthwise axis of the bogie. These are fixed to the girders by elastic bushes giving a controlled degree of flexibility under shear loads. (0/4) DEAB- DE3317080 C The bogie is for railway carriages, and consists of two wheel sets (26,28) which are mounted parallel to one another and a support beam which is supported by the side frames. The wheel sets are elastically supported in the side frames to allow a controlled amount of vertical movement of the wheel sets relative to one another. The side frames (22,24) are interconnected by two struts (50) which allow a certain amount of relative longitudinal movement of the two side frames, but which restricts movement of the frames out of their parallel positions. - The struts (50) are connected to the side frames, but are free from the support beam. The struts cross one another and are mounted on the side frames in elastic supports which allow longitudinal movement of the side frames relative to one another. The rigidity against twisting of the bogie, which is determined by the elasticity of the supports for the wheel axles and the mountings for the struts (50) is chosen so that a controlled distortion of the bogie is achieved.
