PURPOSE:To reduce the contact resistance between single cells and improve output characteristics by reducing the surface hardness of a separating plate less than that of the porous electrode substrate of the single cell. CONSTITUTION:For example, a separating plate 2 mixes fluororesin in carbon powder and carbon fiber and is obtained as compressed and molded airtight conductive sheet material. Since this sheet contains the proper amount of fluororesin, the surface hardness is lower than that of an electrode substrate. In this case, it is even more suitable that the particle diameter of raw material carbon powder or diameter of carbon fiber should be set to a lower value than the surface coarseness of the porous electrode substrate so that the surface hardness of this sheet material can become lower than the surface coarseness of the porous electrode substrate. As a result, since the surface protrusion formed depending on the surface coarseness of the electrode substrate bites in the separating plate 2 with the lower hardness than that of this electrode substrate and makes contact in a wide area, the contact resistance is reduced sharply. |
