PURPOSE:To improve leakage resistant performance by crimping a positive can with a negative can pressed by a specified pressure when a battery whose gasket is sandwiched between a positive can and a negative can is sealed. CONSTITUTION:A positive mix 1 molded in a tablet form and a positive ring 2 are pressed in a positive can 3 to form a positive part. A separator 4 and an absorbent mat 5 are placed on the positive part, and a negative can 7 combined together with a gasket 6 coated with a sealant and filled with a negative active material 8 is placed on the absorbent mat 5. The edge of the positive can 3 is crimped with the negative can 7 pressed at a pressure of 1-5kg/cm<2> to seal a battery. The sealant arranged between the gasket 6 and the negative can 7 is filled between the upper and lower parts of the reversed curl part of the negative can. Therefore, seal effect is improved and leakage resistant performance is increased.
