Light from a Laser source 1, after divergence and collimation in a lens system 2, 3, is modulated in intensity in accordance with picture signals by a KDP crystal polarization modulator 4, which operates in conjunction a polarization filter 5, and is thereafter subjected to a line component of scan by a circularly scanned mirror 6, the reflected light from which is converted to a linear scan by a fibre optic system 9, and a frame component of scan by an electromagnetically driven mirror 11. Mirror 6 is driven through a resonant fibre from a piezo-electric transducer which is activated by two 90 degrees phase displaced sine waves at line scan frequency. An alternative arrangement may use an electromagnetically driven mirror.</p> |
