PURPOSE:To prevent any leak current which might be caused by electrolyte existing between adjacent unit cells by supplying electrolyte retained by a liquid receiver onto a liquid receiver located right under said liquid receiver by dropping the electrolyte from the lower projection of said liquid receiver through its hole. CONSTITUTION:Each cell stack consists of a matrix layer 1 held between a fuel electrode 2 and an oxidant electrode 3 and ribbed electrode base members 4 and 5 installed outside the fuel electrode 2 and the oxidant electrode 3. A main tube 7 for electrolyte supply is vertically installed outside the cell stacks. Branch tubes 8 for electrolyte supply extending from the main tube 7 are connected to the matrix layers 1. At positions where the supply branch tubes 8 are attached to the main tube 7, porous conical bodies 9 made of either a powder or fiber of a material such as tantalum oxide, zirconium oxide, silicone carbide or carbon or fibrous senol resin are attached in such a manner as to direct the projections of the conical bodies 9 downward. Because of the above structure, electrolyte 10 retained by the porous conical body 9 penetrates it and becomes a liquid droplet 10a which then drops from the lower projection 9a of the conical body 9 onto the next porous conical body 9b located under the conical body 9. As the result, the electrolyte 10 is retained by the porous conical body 9b. |
