Epoxide/phosphoric acid adducts, and process for their preparation

Unsaturated compounds are reacted with peroxides, for example hydrogen peroxide, and phosphorus pentoxide as well as with acids whose acidity is at least as great as the acidity of orthophosphoric acid. Examples of unsaturated compounds are alkenes, unsaturated fatty acids, their glycerides, but also macromolecular unsaturated compounds. This gives mixed esters of orthophosphoric acid and the other acids. The ratio of phosphorus pentoxide to the abovementioned acids can be varied within wide ranges so that it is also possible to obtain esters in which the amount of ester groups of other acids exceeds the amount of phosphoric acid ester groups. Examples of other acids are, inter alia, the polyphosphoric acids.
