A method for manufacturing a number of lithographically printed, self-adhesive labels 32 on a length of release substrate material 16 comprises the stages: a) in which a plurality of sheets 4, bearing a desired image, is manufactured by lithographic printing, b) in which each of the lithograhically printed sheets 4 is successively bonded to a supporting fabric 6, which comprises a material 14 provided with self-adhesive backing, which is supported on a release material 16, the printed sheet 4 being bonded to the upper side of the material 14 provided with self-adhesive backing, c) in which the adhering lithographic sheets 4 and the material 14 provided with self-adhesive backing are cut through down to the release material 16 in order to thereby form the desired labels 32, and d) in which the unwanted parts 28 of the printed sheets 4 and the material 14 provided with adhesive backing, which are bonded together, are removed from the release material 16. With the method thus provided, it is possible to achieve high-quality printing with multi-coloured images efficiently and inexpensively for continuous affixing to containers that are to be labelled. <IMAGE>
