The devices relate to a cavity-linkage system which consists of lightweight metal or plastic and is associated with the drawing-in and extension method or plug-in method, which devices are extended on the vehicle roof using a roof rack or load carrier as a structure or as an add-on unit for holding a tarpaulin cover, which is to be attached to support bars, for covering the roof and window area (in particular to protect against the effects of sun and heat) and are provided with window blinds attached to a roof holding frame. The holding frame can also at the same time assume the function of a load carrier. When the holding parts are retracted, the support bars can optionally assume a perpendicular or horizontal position of rest along or across the roof of the vehicle, the protective tarpaulin being disengaged or being capable of remaining as a permanent attachment on the bars or on the storage area. As a function of the structure of the vehicle roof or in accordance with wishes, linkages which are securely positioned in a standing or suspended fashion are also set up, in a combinable connection to the bar components which can be controlled via an angular adjustment plate, by means of the weight of a vehicle which has been driven onto four ground plates or by attachment in the ground of the plates with pegs or by means of ground plates inserted in each case into one plug-in sleeve installed under each side of the underfloor of the vehicle.
