Process for the dyeing, slop-padding, printing or optical brightening of organic substrates containing hydroxyl groups or nitrogen, or of mixtures of such substrates, characterised in that a substantive dye or a direct dye or mixtures thereof, which contain(s) at least one 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring having aromatic character, which is substituted by 1 to 3 halogen atoms, or a sulphur dye or mixtures thereof or a basic dye or mixtures thereof or an optical brightener is/are used for this purpose, and the dyeings or the prints or the brightened substrate is/are aftertreated with a polymeric, polybasic amino compound ( alpha ) at a pH of 7 to 14. |
