PURPOSE:To certainly prevent the double feed of paper sheets by releasing a separating roller from the restraint due to a torque plate and revolving the separating roller following to a feed roller, when the torque due to the feeding roller exceeds the static frictional force between the torque plate and a member fixed onto the shaft of the separating roller. CONSTITUTION:When a feeding roller 2 contacts under pressure onto a separating roller 18 and is revolved in the paper feeding direction in paper feeding, said separating roller 18 is provided with a revolution torque in the paper feeding direction (counterclockwise), and a spring 16 is extended, and a tension proportional to said extension is generated, and provides the separating roller 18 with the torque in the return direction. Until the value of the torque supplied by the feeding roller 2 through a paper sheet exceeds a certain torque due to the static friction generated between a torque plate 17 and the core 18a of the separating roller 18, the separating roller 18 is held at the turning position balanced with the torque due to the tension of the spring 16. Since this torque exceeds the certain torque when paper sheets are transported in superposed state, the separating roller 18 follows to the feeding roller 2, released from the restraint by the torque plate 17. |
