PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled cast alloy having superior wear resistance, seizing resistance and toughness by adding specified percentages of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, Mo and Nb to Fe and providing specified hardness by normalization and tempering. CONSTITUTION:An alloy sonsisting of, weight 2.3-2.6% C, 0.5-1.0% Si, 0.6- 1.0% Mn, 1.5-2.1% Cr, 1.2-1.6% Ni, 0.6-1.0% Mo, 0.2-0.4% Nb and the balance essentially Fe is prepd. The alloy as the material of the shell of a roll is melt-bonded to spheroidal graphite steel as the material of the inner layer to form a composite sleeve casting (a blank for a roll), and the casting is normalized and temperd to provide 70-75HS hardness to the shell. Thus, an alloy for the shell of a composite roll for rolling steel sections is obtd. The alloy the superior wear resistance, seizing resistance and high toughness.
