<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled magnetic recording medium having excellent corrosion resistance and whose magnetic coated film is not stripped off in a recorder by treating the surface of a carrier with corona discharge, then providing an undercoat layer by a dispersion of a hydrophobic polymer in water and then furnishing a magnetic layer which is irradiated with radiation. CONSTITUTION:Plastics such as polyethylene terephthalates and polyesters are used as the material of a nonmagnetic carrier and nonmagnetic alloys and nonmagnetic metals can also be used in accordance with the application. When films are used as a carrier, the surface opposite to the surface on which a magnetic layer is provided can be backcoated to prevent the electrification, transfer and wow and flutter, increase the strength of a magnetic recording body and improve the traveling property of the back surface. When an undercoat layer is furnished to the surface of a carrier, the surface of the carrier is effectively treated with corona discharge as the pretreatment. When another undercoat layer is provided in succession to the corona discharge treatment, an aq. undercoat layer obtained by coating a dispersion of a hydrophobic polymer in water is appropriately used. Polyvinyl chlorides of further natural rubber, etc., for example, can be exemplified as the hydrophobic polymer.</p> |
