PURPOSE:To obtain a hot rolled strip with less edge cracks due to grain boundary oxidation and surface flaws by coating an anti-oxidizing agent on a slab of Ni-Cu alloy and heating and retaining the slab at a specific temperature range and within a specific time in a heating furnace before hot rolling it by a continuous hot rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a slab of Ni-Cu alloy is constituted of, by weight %, >=60% Ni, and 20-40% Cu. An anti-oxidizing agent prepared, for instance, by dissolving refractories in water, is coated on the whole surface or long-side edge parts of the slab of Ni-Cu alloy, and the slab is heated at temperatures ranging from 1,080-1,150 deg.C and retained within 4 hours in a heating furnace. Successively, the slab is hot rolled by a continuous hot rolling mill, to obtain a hot rolled strip of Ni-Cu alloy steel. |
