Fibres drafting system - having work roll and arcuate block, both with card clothing, coacting to blend and draft

Fibres drafting system for staple slivers includes a work roll about 35/16" dia. carrying card clothing with about 400 teeth per sq. inch. and coacting with an arcuate under-roll block carrying similar card clothing. The roll teeth are forwardly raked, oppositely to those of the block, and sliver infeed and outfeed roll pairs are of less dia. than the work roll, which runs faster than the infeed rolls and slower than the outfeed rolls. System efficiently parallels short fibres, present esp. in cotton slivers, and thereby eliminates conventional combers from textile mills.
