PURPOSE:To shorten the axial length of a hydraulic device controlling rotation of a movable vane and reduce the weight of the whole body of a pump by a method wherein the detection of the moving amount of an operating rod is changed to the spring of a compact blade angle detecting mechanism and a load converter. CONSTITUTION:In case the angle of a blade 4 is to be changed, pressure oil is introduced into the upper oil pressure chamber 2a of a hydraulic cylinder 2 from an oil supplying pipe 15 and, then, an operating rod 6 is moved downward through a piston 5. Then, the blade 4 is rotated through a cross head 9, connected to the operating rod 6, a connecting shaft 8 and a lever 7. The spring of the blade angle detecting mechanism 23 is contracted by the downward movement of the operating rod 6. The change of load, corresponding to the amount of the contraction, is detected by the load converter and, whereby, the amount of movement of the operating rod 6 may be converted into an electric signal. Thus, the detection of the moving amount of the operating rod 6 is changed to the compact spring and the load converter 23, therefore, the axial length of the hydraulic device 12, controlling the rotation of the movable blade 4, may be shortened and the weight of the whole of the pump may be reduced.
