PURPOSE:To improve the starting performance and to reduce generation of blue and white smokes by forming the combustion chamber of the direct injection type Diesel engine provided with a fuel injection valve having two nozzle holes into a long elliptical shape or a cocoon shape long in respective injecting directions. CONSTITUTION:The elliptical combustion chamber 1 which is long in the injecting directions of the injection valve having two nozzle holes, is formed on the upper surface of a piston 2. By taking the direction of a swor S into condideration, the injecting direction of each nozzle hole is directed to this side by an angle theta from the centerline of the elliptical form so as to be formed into an elliptical shape having a long radius L1 and a short radius L2. Since the combustion chamber 1 of a concave shape is elliptical, a turbulent flow is produced in the combustion chamber 2, and mixing of fuel spray with sucked air is promoted, and the reaching distance of the fuel spray is prolonged, thus improving the starting function and reducing the generation of blue and white smokes. |
