PURPOSE:To prevent the moving of a vehicle due to ''creeping'' at the time of or after automatic starting of an engine, by detecting passing of a predetermined time after starting of the engine, and controlling an automatic transmission to select a low-speed gear position when said predetermined time is passed after starting of the engine. CONSTITUTION:The time T passed after starting of an engine is measured by a timer. When the time T becomes equal to a predetermined time Tc, connection of a hydraulic circuit is established to shift the gear position of an automatic transmission 9 to its first-speed position by turning ON a solenoid valve 10a while turning OFF a solenoid valve 10b. Further, when the engine is stopped automatically with all of the conditions for automatic stopping of the engine being satisfied, the solenoid valves 10a, 10b are both turned OFF and the gear position is shifted to the highest fourth-speed position, so that ''creeping'' of a vehicle is prevented. |
