Use of a position-sensitive analogue radiation detector and device for determining the position of a spot of radiation

A radiation detector of the so-called subdivided or sector type can be used as a radiation detector of the so-called lateral or wallmark type for the purpose of analogue specification of the position of a spot of radiation on an axis lying in a detection plane. A device for determining the position of a spot of radiation in a detection plane of a position-sensitive analogue radiation detector comprises: a radiation detector which is subdivided into detection ranges and is provided in each case with a detection electrode assigned to a detection range and with a base electrode assigned in common to all detection ranges, the detection ranges being split in pairs by a narrow strip-shaped intermediate zone; a circuit for forming a difference value which represents the difference between two photocurrents flowing through one detection electrode each; a circuit for forming an aggregate value which represents the sum of all the photocurrents flowing between the detection electrodes and the base electrode; and a circuit for forming a standardised output signal which represents the quotient of the division of the difference value by the aggregate value. <IMAGE>
