PRODUCTION OF HOT ROLLED STEEL STRIP

PURPOSE:To obtain a hot rolled steel strip which has uniform material quality and is suppressed of formation of tertiary scale by sealing a hot rolled steel strip coil having a high temp. with a cover of which the inside wall surface is covered with a heat insulating material, holding the inside of the cover in an inert or reducing gaseous atmosphere and subjecting the coil to self-annealing by the heat retained by the coil itself during this time. CONSTITUTION:A hot rolled coil 1 which is a hot rolled steel strip of a prescribed thickness coiled at a prescribed high temp. is placed on a base 3 the top surface of which is covered with a heat insulating material 2. A cover 5 of which inside wall surface is covered with a heat insulating material 4 is put thereon. The air in the cover 5 is purged 9 and is replaced 11 with an inert gas. This unit is conveyed in this state to a prescribed place and is held for a required time. The coil 1 is subjected to self-annealing by the heat retained by the coil itself during this time so as to alternate an annealing stage such as bell annealing or the like to be executed in an ordinary stage. The hot rolled steel strip is produced by an ordinary stage for the stage after pickling.
