PURPOSE:To output a proper picture signal without using a memory by forming simultaneously picture information of an original to be read out on a photosensor array every straight part by using a reduced image formation optical system. CONSTITUTION:A reduced image formation optical system 8 is arranged under an original plate glass 1 and the photosensor array 9 is arranged under the optical system. Picture element blocks 7 each of which arrays the proper number of picture elements 6 as one string are straight arranged on the surface of the photosensor array 9 with proper intervals. Consequently, all the picture information of the original to be read out which is set up on the plate glass 1 is formed on the picture elements 6 in respective picture element blocks 7 through the reduced image formation optical system 8 and one line is continuously read out.
