PURPOSE:To avoid injuring a tape by a rotary cover as well as finger touch or dust attraction to the tape by using a guide means for a slide cover and securing a partial rub of the slide cover to the outside of the lower surface side of a cassette. CONSTITUTION:In a cassette use mode slide cover shift means 37 and 38 are moved toward an arrow B, and a slide cover 26 is moved back against the force of a plate spring 30 through cut hole parts 40 and 39 formed to the end face of a rotary cover 14. Then the cover 14 is turned to draw out a tape. In a non-use mode of cassette the tape is held between both covers 14 and 26. The cover 26 slides through its outer surface to avoid a finger contact or dust attraction to the tape. Furthermore hooking and injuring of the tape by the covers 14 or 26 are avoided even though the tape has some sag at a cut part when a use mode of the tape is changed to a non-use mode.
