PURPOSE:To prevent the blow-out of flame just after ignition by a method wherein a high flame position made by the first operating member of a flow rate control valve is set to a forward position over the ignition position made by the second operating member. CONSTITUTION:The first operating member 4 changes over a flow rate control valve 3 from a low flame position where minimum volume of gas is fed to a high flame position where a maximum volume of gas is fed. The second operating member 6 advances the valve 3 to the ignition position C and at the same time operates a switch 5a placed in an operating circuit for the igniter unit 5. When the first operating member 4 is set at the rightward position shown in the figure, the flow rate control valve 3 has no pushing force and is placed at the low flame position and further when the second operating member 6 is operated under this condition, the valve 3 is pushed by this member and advances to occupy the ignition position and thus a superior ignition is applied to the burner 1. Then, when the first operating member 4 is moved in a leftward direction, the control valve 3 is pushed and advances more, resulting in occupying the high flame position B where the maximum volume of gas is fed, and even if the second operating member 6 is operated with this condition, the valve 3 has no pressing and advancement caused by the member 6 and then it is remained at the former high flame position B.
