The device is a so-called "fixateur externe" which comprises adjustment rings which can be connected to one another at adjustable distances by rods and fixing elements, and tensioning wires which extend in the planes braced by the adjustment rings and can be fixed by their ends on remote parts of in each case one adjustment ring by means of holders under longitudinal tension. The ends of the tensioning wires are fastened on the adjustment rings by means of re-adjustable tensioning elements which permit re-tensioning of the said tensioning wires at any time during the use of such a fixator. In the fixing elements the rods for the connection of adjacent adjustment rings are mounted so as to be infinitely movable axially and independently thereof movable angularly within specified limits, but they are locked at all adjustment positions.
