The invention relates to a circuit for outputting pulse powers having a determinable pulse frequency to electric or electronic loads (2) with a permanent load-carrying capability which is low compared with the pulse power. To ensure reliable operation and at the same time to protect the load against overloading, it is proposed to supply the load via a constant current source (1) which charges a capacitor (3), the charge of which is discharged in the form of pulses via the load with the aid of a control circuit (5). During this process, the constant current source (1) outputs at the most a current which is within the range of the permanent load current which can be tolerated by the load. The capacitance of the capacitor (3) is dimensioned in such a manner that the load is not destroyed if the total charge of the capacitor is discharged at once across the load. <IMAGE>
