A rail vehicle with electric drive is described in which a separate electric motor is provided for each driven wheel. The torque of each of the motors is controlled by a control unit in addition to the control in accordance with the traction force required in such a way that a turning movement of the wheel set can be corrected at the initial stage. In an advantageous embodiment, the electric motors here are accommodated in the bogies of the rail vehicle. In addition, the wheels can be detachable wheels.
