1,107,492. Railway vehicle undercarriages, mounting rudders, road vehicle draw gear. ROBINSON TECHNICAL PRODUCTS Inc. 1 Nov., 1965 [13 Nov., 1964], No. 46226/65. Headings B7L, B7T and B7V. [Also in Division F2] A bearing comprises parts 24, 12 having plane bearing surfaces 26, 18 and a resilient lubricant-containing mass of compressed metal wire forming a pad which is disposed between the bearing surfaces. Under load, the pad yields only slightly, thus retaining the lubricant. In Fig. 1, pad 30 is positioned in a cavity formed in a railway car bolster by ring 16, and a plate 24 attached to the oar body is positioned in the cavity 14 over the pad with a pin 28 extending through apertures 32, 20. In Fig. 2 (not shown), a flattened tube of knitted wire is wound to form a ring shaped pad (40) which is then compressed. The tube may be corrugated before winding. |
