PURPOSE:To facilitate repair and inspection of a generator, by composing a container disposed in a water pipe and incorporating therein a generator by a main body and an extension chamber which is moved in a water-tight manner along the main body of the container for changing the volume of the same. CONSTITUTION:A generator 5 driven by a water turbine 1 and auxiliary accessories of the generator are arranged in a container 12 disposed in a water pipe 8. The container 12 is composed of a main body 12 fixed to the water pipe 8 by support means 13 and an extension chamber 14 moved by a servomotor 15. In ordinary operation of the apparatus, hydraulic pressure is applied to a closing pipe 21 to move the extension chamber 14 toward the main body 12 by the servomotor 15. At the time of repairing or inspecting the generator 5, on the other hand, hydraulic pressure is applied to an opening pipe 20 to move the extension chamber 14 forcibly toward the upstream side by the servomotor 15 and to thereby obtain a sufficient work space. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to repair or inspect the generator from the inside of the extension chamber without draining water from the water pipe 8. |
