PURPOSE:To obtain a general purpose terminal which can easily read displayed contents, by providing a hardware switch of Kanji (Chinese character) option and displaying a message in Kanji by reading out and changing over the Kanji option by means of a program. CONSTITUTION:A program stored in a memory 13 is executed by a CPU11. When message display is made, the condition of a constituting switch 12 having a port address is read by the CPU11 in accordance with a program. The constituting switch 12 has a 1-bit switch which is called Kanji function bit and a user sets the switch before the power supply is made in accordance with the existence/nonexistence of the Kanji option. Display of Kana (Japanese syllabary) letters and Kanji in message display is switched through software. That is to say, when a Kanji function exists, display showing that Kanji is handled is instructed to a display monitor 15 by selecting Kanji data. |
