PURPOSE:To obtain a resin which can give a laminate excellent in electrical properties, punching quality and dimensional stability, by reacting a higher fatty acid/xylylenediamine condensation adduct containing -NH2 groups with a phenol and a formaldehyde. CONSTITUTION:A higher fatty acid/xylylenediamine condensation adduct having a monovalent group (-NH2) and/or a bivalent group (=NH) in the molecule is reacted with a phenol and a formaldehyde. This reaction can be performed by, for example, (1) a method in which both of the adduct and the phenol are present from the initial stage of the reaction, and (2) a method in which the adduct is reacted first with the formaldehyde and, after adding the phenol, the reaction is further advanced. In these method, it is preferable to use a basic catalyst such as ammonia or dimethylamine.
