PURPOSE:To obtain a stable and highly sensitive maltose sensor with a long life by employing an H2O2 electrode using palladium as cathode electrode. CONSTITUTION:An H2O2 electrode is composed of an outer cylinder 2 of a sensor, an insulator 3, a platinum anode 4, palladium 5 and a lead 1. An enzyme membrane 9 is provided on an induction surface 7 of the H2O2 electrode through an electrolytic liquid 8 and alpha-glucosidase and glucose oxidase are immobilized in the enzyme membrane 9. Upon contact with the enzyme membrane 9, glucose and maltose in a sample causes a reaction and H2O2 formed is converted into a current value with an H2O2 electrode whereby the amount of glucose and maltose can be measured. Here, palladium is used for the cathode because palladium will not impair the activity of the enzyme due to a smaller solubility than silver and palladium ion will not impair the activity of alpha-glucosidase as compared with silver ion. |
