PURPOSE:To reduce the pressing force of a magnetic tape to a flange by using a member having a high frictional coefficiency to form a contact surface of a rotary roll to the magnetic tape and holding said member with a means which can move toward the rotary shaft of said roll. CONSTITUTION:A member 11 having a high frictional coefficiency has low strength toward the rotary shaft of a rotary roll 12 and high strength toward the circumference of the roll 12 since many slits 10 are provided to the member 11 constituting the roll 12. A magnetic tape 15 is driven with control given from a flange 13 of the roll 12. If a shift 9 is produced, the member 11 is shifted to a position 11' to absorb the shift 9. This reduces the pressing force of the tape 15 which is produced by the attachment variance of the roll 12 to the flange 13. In addition, a shift amount of the tape 15 can be detected easily.
