In a brake cylinder, in particular a diaphragm brake cylinder for commercial vehicles, locking means (17) arranged at an equal angular spacing on the circumference of the brake cylinder are provided to connect the cover (1) and the cylinder (3) of the brake cylinder and these locking means allow the cover and the cylinder to be clamped together with a diaphragm (19) in between. The locking means are each formed by a receiving part (21) extending from the cover and a clamping part (23) extending from the cylinder, the receiving part engaging round the clamping part from outside in the assembled position. When the cover and the cylinder are rotated relative to one another, the clamping part (23) which can be introduced into the receiving part for the purpose of assembly interacts with wedge bevels (25), preferably formed on the receiving part, which, to determine the end position, merge into horizontal surfaces. The end position thereby achieved can be fixed by means of locating pins (29), the locating pins (29) being capable of extending through holes in the clamping part and the receiving part which come into overlap. The diaphragm preferably has at its outer circumference a rectangular centering bead (31) which is matched to the shape of the receiving part and of the clamping part. <IMAGE>
