PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition containing a specific fibroin peptide and a liquid polyhydric alcohol, preventing the damage of the hair, protecting the hair from the chemical and mechanical stimulation, and capable of imparting excellent feeling, luster, combing property, setting effect, etc. of the hair. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition composed of an aqueous substrate containing (A) 0.1-10wt% fibroin peptide having an average molecular weight of 300-3,500 and capable of forming a crytalline film when its aqueous solution is applied and dried on the hair and (B) 1-5wt% liquid polyhydric alcohol. The above fibron peptide is safe to human body and free of skin irritation, and can be prepared in the form of an aqueous solution by (1) dissolving refined silk in a solvent such as a aqueous solution of calcium chloride, (2) dialyzing the solution to obtain a 0.5-20wt% aqueous solution of silk fibroin, and (3) hydrolyzing the solution with an enzyme, an acid or an alkali. |
