PURPOSE:To cool and solidify quickly a molten metal having a high m.p. by providing vacuum chambers of which the atmospheres are controllable above and below via a wall attached with a water-cooling metallic nozzle and installing a material melting device in the upper chamber and a cooling roll in the lower chamber. CONSTITUTION:An upper chamber 2 and a lower chamber 3 are connected only by the small hole of a water-cooling metallic nozzle 1 and therefore when the pressure in the chamber 2 rises relatively higher than the pressure in the chaber 3, the high melting melted by a melting device 4 is ejected through the small hole of the nozzle 1 into the chamber 3 and is quickly cooled by a single roll 5 for cooling under high-speed rotation in the chamber 3 thereby forming a quickly cooled light-gate strip 7. An evacuating chamber 10 and a pressurizing chamber 9 are connected via high-speed stop valves 8 to the chambers 2, 3 in order to provide a pressure difference. A satisfactory effect is attained with either one of such chambers. |
