PURPOSE:An apparatus for producing a high-quality PVC by fluidized vapor phase polymerization, comprising a top section, a middle section having a monomer spray nozzle and a slurry spray nozzle and a bottom section having a monomer vapor inlet, a condenser and an agitator paddle. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus for the fluidized vapor-phase polymerization of a vinyl chloride monomer, its bottom section 1 is provided with monomer injection inlets 4 and 5 for blowing the vinyl chloride monomer. An agitator paddle 6 is provided to give a shearing force to polymer slurry particles and prevent them from forming coarser particles. A condensing pipe 7 is provided to uniform the flow in the fluidized bed and remove the heat of polymerization. Vertical compartments 8 are inserted into the middle section 2, an initiator and a seed slurry are added to the first chamber, the mixture overflows into the next chamber, and the product is withdrawn from the last chamber, whereby the control of the residence time distribution is made possible. A monomer spray nozzle 9 is provided within the fluidized bed to prevent fine liquid drops from spattering without contacting the powder. The slurry spray nozzle 10 is placed in a position higher than the level of fluidization so that the slurry can be sprayed over individual polymerized particles.
