NEW MATERIAL:A compound of the formula (A is aminoacid residue and the amino group and functional groups in A may be protected) and its acid adducts. EXAMPLE:Z'-N-L-Tryptophyl-3-de-O-methylfortimicin A. USE:Antibiotic and a synthetic intermediate of other antibiotics. PREPARATION:3-De-O-methylfortimicin B or protected 3-de-O-methylfortimicin B other than the amino group in the 4-position is allowed react with a compound of HOOC-CH2-NH-AH or its protected derivative except one carboxyl or reactive carboxyl derivative. Then, when needed, protecting groups are removed, further the product is converted into an acid adduct, if desired.
