Continuous growth of massecuite crystals is obtained in an apparatus with superimposed crystallization cells (20, 120, 220), each being fed from the preceding chamber and feeding the successive one, and linked by a vacuum source. Two stirrers, preferably propeller-driven, are provided inside each chamber; the upper stirrers (31, 131, 231) are capable of generating three- dimensional motion, whereas the lower stirrers (32, 132, 232) are capable of generating stirring motion substantially on a horizontal plan, so as to ease the natural separation of bigger size crystals and prevent their stagnation on the concave bottom (21, 121, 221) of each cell.

|
