<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the response time by allowing orientation directions of liquid crystal molecules of two substrates to cross at about 90 deg. and making them symmetrical with respect to the center line viewed from the direction of an abserver. CONSTITUTION:Liquid crystal molecules in the front side are orientated in the direction of a solid line 21, and those in the rear side are orientated in the direction of a broken line 22. Rubbing directions of orientation directions of liquid crystal molecules of both substrates make theta 90 deg., and these orientation directions are made symmetrical with respect to the center line viewed from the direction of the observer of an arrow 23, namely, theta1 45 deg. and theta2 45 deg.. By this constitution, the response time, especially, the fall time is shortened considerably.</p> |
