PURPOSE:To exchange work rolls and to pass a strip easily and to improve its production efficiency by forming a titled equipment provided with a device for moving work rolls used by wrapping a strip around them to the reverse wrapping side of strip. CONSTITUTION:In a six-high mill provided with work rolls 4, 16, 29, 10 between backup rolls 32, 33 which are pivotally supported by roll chocks 30, 31 in a housing 1; a strip S is rolled between respective work rolls by wrapping it around the rolls 29, 16 into a S-shape. In case of exchanging the rolls 29, 16, etc., the rolling is stopped and rolling reduction screws 34, 35 re released, and then the rolls 4, 16, 29, 10 are separated from the strip S by actuating hydraulic pistons 46, 6, 9, 17, 12, etc., and the work roll 29 and its roll chock 28 are taken out by turning them and actuating hydraulic cylinders 22, 26 through arms 20, 27 to exchange them together with the roll 16. Thus the strip S is restored to the level between deflector rolls 36, 37, to pass the strip easily.
