PURPOSE:To allow a retended subscriber to urge response to a retending subscriber in terms of voice by transmitting a message to the retended subscriber when a talking line is retended for a prescribed time or over and connecting a receiving amplifier. CONSTITUTION:In depressing a retention button by the operator of a telephone set 2-1 after a trunk line and the set 2-1 are connected via a main device 1 and a talking line is formed, a central control section 4 retends the trunk line. Furthermore, a timer 18 is started so as to connect a message sound source circuit 6 to the tunk line via a cross point (c) after a prescribed time is elapsed, and a message urging the call in voice is transmitted and then the trunk line is connected to the telephone set 2-1 so as to bring it to the loudspeaker receiving state. The retended subscriber urges response to the retending subscriber by means of the voice outputted from the loudspeaker.
