The packaging machine comprises a grouping station, an erecting station for folding boxes and, if necessary, a sealing station. A supply magazine (54) for the folding boxes, a pivotable and displaceable arm (86) for erecting the folding boxes and a transporting device (56) for transporting the folding boxes to the sealing station are arranged on a frame (52) at the erecting station (50). The arm (86), which has a vacuum device (90) at its free end, is articulated with a frame (84) at its rear end, which frame (84) is articulated in its turn via joints (80, 82) with a horizontally displaceable plate (78). To erect a folding box, the arm (86) pivots upwards and sucks up the folding box arranged at the front of the supply magazine. As it is being drawn from the supply magazine, the folding box is partially erected by means of fingers (66) arranged on the supply magazine (54). After the arm is lowered, the folding box comes to rest between a stationary supporting surface (94) and a pivotable supporting surface (100). Turning fingers (96, 110) and a hook (98) fold over 3 floor flaps of the folding box.
