In the drying of hops by means of hot air, the hops are placed ready for drying in at least one, preferably several drying drums arranged in a drying chamber in series or adjacently, hot air is blown through these drums, and the hot air is conducted away upwards in the direction of the drum axis through the grid-like ends of an inner drum and through the drum casing, the drying drums are discontinuously turned at given time intervals through a given angle, the hop material is loosened and any unevenness of moisture which may be present is equalised, and when a degree of drying has been reached the drum with the highest drying time is removed from the device and a new drum with undried or predried hops is introduced into the device.
