PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having the enhanced adhesiveness with a support, high film strength and excellent water resistance, by providing a heat-sensitive layer based on a light-heat convertible substance and a long- chain acrylic copolymer on a support. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer consisting of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and acrylate or methacrylate having a 5C or more alkyl group, if necessary, a thermoplastic resin such as polyvinyl acetate or polystyrene and a light-heat convertible substance for converting light to heat upon the absorption of light such as carbon black or phthalocyanine pigment are applied to a support, if necessary, along with a water-soluble binder to form a heat sensitive layer. The ratio of long-chain alkylacrylic copolymer and other thermoplastic resin/light-heat convertible substance is set to 1:0.5-5. The thickness of said heat sensitive layer is set to 0.1-50mum in a dry state. This obtained thermal recording material is imagewise exposed to form a latent image which is, in turn, developed by water. |
