A method of determining the difference between the actual temperature of a heated pressurized fluid flowing in a closed system and its saturation temperature under the conditions of pressure and flow rate. First, the temperature of the liquid is taken. Second, the pressure required to produce saturation at this temperature is read from a previously known saturation curve. Third, the pressure of the liquid is measured. Fourth, the difference between the measured liquid pressure and the saturation pressure is added to the saturation pressure. Again using the same saturation curve, from the result achieved in step 3, the saturation temperature corresponding to the sum of these pressure values is obtained. Finally, the actual liquid temperature is subtracted from the indirectly determined saturation temperature to determine how much hotter the liquid can become before it reaches saturation temperature. This is an improvement over the prior art which includes additive errors from temperature and pressure measuring devices having broad ranges.
|
