PURPOSE:To prolong the service life of a sealing member by driving an electric motor only when it is detected that the revolution state of a wheel is nearly equal to the state where the first operation of a solenoid valve is permitted on brake application and removing the residual pressure from a hydraulic circuit after the motor stops. CONSTITUTION:When brake is applied, the wheel speed is decreased by the operation of a wheel brake mechanism. When the wheel deceleration speed reaches a set value, a module 23 drives an electric motor 11. A pump 12 is operated by the operation of the motor 11, and a modulator 17 and a bypass valve are operated by the discharge pressure. The brake pressure of the wheel brake mechanism is adjusted by controlling the discharge pressure of the pump 12 by a solenoid valve 16. When the necessity of the operation of an antiskid apparatus is avoided, the module 23 stops each operation of the motor 11 and the pump 12. After stop, the pressurized liquid in a power hydraulic circuit 14 flows-out into a reservoir 13, passing through an orifice 22, and each hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic circuit 14, chamber 17b of the modulator 17, and the chamber 18b of a valve 18 vanishes.
