In order to facilitate and better utilise the power transmission in the case of cycles and machines, the driving or transmission pulley is divided into a plurality of semicircular parts. These are secured rotatably in an eccentric manner on a baseplate, thereby making it impossible to fit the parts of the pulley together incorrectly. A ring on which two pins for each part of the pulley are fixed brings about the opening (enlargement or reduction of the diameter) and closure of the pulley. This makes possible an increase or reduction in the rotational speed on a plane with drive and transmission. The parts of the pulley are held fast in the desired position by a single-plate dry clutch, a centrifugal clutch or a Bowden pull. Since the number of parts of the pulley and the diameter can be selected in accordance with requirements, the uses to which the invention can be put are many and various.
